Fishing Cass Lake

Cass Lake is a fisherman's paradise!

Walleye over 10 pounds and Muskie over 35 pounds are caught in Cass Lake's waters each season. The Cass Lake Chain of Lakes is located in the heart of the Chippewa National Forest. It is the largest of 8 lakes on the chain that are linked by the Mississippi River. The lake's 15,596 acres and almost 27 miles of shoreline provide great habitat for Walleye, Northern Pike, Perch, Bass, Muskie, Bluegills, Sunfish, and Pumpkinseeds. Cass Lake has a unique structure of steep drop-offs, sand bars, weed beds, and sunken islands that create amazing fishing opportunities for everyone. Whether you're fishing for a boat load of Perch or the Muskie of your dreams, Cass Lake offers everything needed to fulfill your fishing vacation. There are more lakes in the Cass Lake area than an angler could fish during one vacation and the quality and quantity of fishing opportunities are world class!

Spring

Spring is a wonderful time to visit the Northland! Opening weekend of walleye fishing season is nearly a state holiday in Minnesota, as many take to the lakes after the long winter months. Fish are hungry and some of the best stringers of the year are caught in shallow water in May and early June. Cass Lake is an especially good fishing lake in the spring, so make plans with your friends to spend a weekend or a week making memories at our resort!

Fall

Fall is probably the finest time of the year in northern Minnesota, with blazing foliage, gorgeous lake vistas and often stable and pleasant weather. Also, fish are moving into the shallows again, actively looking for food sources. It's the best time of the year for fishing on Cass Lake and anglers will also virtually have the lake to themselves as the traditional tourism season is over by the end of August and locals are usually the only anglers on Cass.
